Ingredients
- 960-980 g flour
- 1.5 dl sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp cardamom
- 1 packet dry yeast
- 6 dl milk
- 150 g room temperature butter
- Filling
- 150 g room temperature butter
- 100 g sugar
- 3 tsp coarsely ground cardamom
- Mix all the filling ingredients together.

Instructions
- Add all the dry ingredients to a stand mixer.
- Pour in lukewarm milk and knead for 5 minutes.
- Add room temperature butter and continue kneading for another 10 minutes.
- Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll it into a large square. Spread the filling over the dough. Fold the dough in towards the center and then fold the other side over the entire dough to create 3 layers. Roll out again. Use a pizza cutter to cut about 18 strips. Pick up a strip, twist it from both ends and tie a simple knot. Do this with all the strips and place 9 knots on a baking sheet.
- Cover and let the knots proof for 30-45 minutes.
- Brush with egg and sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake at 200 °C, in the middle of the oven for 15-20 minutes.
