Few things rival the smell of freshly baked buns in the house. These fluffy and juicy buns with sweet cinnamon topping are easy to make and are perfect whether you want to treat yourself a little extra during the week or serve something nice to guests.

Ingredients

  • 470 g all-purpose flour
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 tsp cardamom
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 3 dl milk
  • 50 g room temperature butter

    Cinnamon Topping
  • Melt 75 g butter and stir in 75 g sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Let the mixture cool until it thickens (you can place it in the refrigerator).

Instructions

  1. Place all the dry ingredients in a stand mixer. Add lukewarm milk and egg. Knead for 10 minutes.
  2. Add room temperature butter and knead for another 5 minutes.
  3. Cover and let the dough rise for one hour.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured countertop and divide it into 9 equal pieces. Shape them into balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Cover and let them proof for 30 minutes.
  6. Then place about 1 tsp of the cinnamon topping on each bun.
  7. Bake in the middle of the oven at 225°C for 12-14 minutes.

Once the buns are baked and have a golden surface, let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm, perhaps with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee on the side. These buns taste best fresh, but they can also be frozen and reheated later, just as good every time!
