Trip to Alicante

Last weekend, we traded the winter cold of Norway for sun and warmth in Alicante. We wanted a little break and to celebrate my husband's birthday, so we chose this charming city on the Costa Blanca.
We were there for three nights and stayed at Myflats Alicante. The apartment was spacious and nice, with its own kitchen and access to a lovely shared rooftop pool, perfect for relaxing mornings in the sun with a view of the city.

We enjoyed breakfast and lunch at BOMBON BOSS, while dinners were spent at Las Brasas de San Miguel, actually two nights in a row. There, we were served a large piece of meat, pre-sliced, along with a small table grill so we could cook the meat just the way we wanted. Really cozy and social, and incredibly good!
One of the days, we rented a car and drove along the beautiful coastline. The trip included a visit to Castell de Guadalest, an old castle spectacularly perched on the mountainside with a fantastic view of the valley and the turquoise reservoir below. On the way back, we stopped for ice cream at Borgonesse, and it was undoubtedly the best ice cream we tasted on the whole trip.

We love the atmosphere in Alicante, the palm trees, the beautiful fig trees, and the bright promenades along the sea. A visit to the local market was an experience in itself: fresh meat, fruits, vegetables, and cakes everywhere. There was something truly special about picking up a sun-ripened, locally sourced mandarin; the taste was simply heavenly.
It was also surprisingly easy to get from the airport to the city center. We just hopped on the bus, and about 20 minutes later, we were right in the middle of Alicante.

A perfect little weekend trip with sun, good food, and a birthday celebration, just what we needed.
