Ingredients

  • 960-980 g flour
  • 1.5 dl sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cardamom
  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 6 dl milk
  • 150 g room temperature butter
  • Vanilla butter
  • 100 g room temperature butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tsp vanilla sugar

Instructions

  1. Place all the dry ingredients in a stand mixer.
  2. Add lukewarm milk and knead for 5 minutes.
  3. Add room temperature butter and knead further for 10 minutes.
  4. Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured countertop and roll out into a large square.
  6. Use a pizza cutter to cut into squares (8 cm x 8 cm)
  7. Place a dollop (1 tsp) of vanilla butter in the center of each square and fold the corners towards each other.
  8. Cover and let them proof for half an hour.
  9. Brush with egg.
  10. Bake at 225°C, in the middle of the oven for 12-15 minutes.
