Gothenburg

This weekend we took a trip to Gothenburg and stayed at what is often simply called the Post Hotel, namely the Clarion Hotel Post. We have stayed there before and were very satisfied; it is a large and beautiful hotel in the city center, with both a rooftop pool and bar. The breakfast is also a highlight, with a wide selection of good food.

This time we got a newly renovated room, but it was quite small and had almost no space to put our clothes. As a result, a lot ended up on the floor, and the windows couldn't be opened, which slightly detracted from the overall impression.

We arrived on Friday afternoon, had a simple dinner, and spent the evening walking around the center of Gothenburg.

On Saturday morning we went to Universeum. Universeum is a large science center and aquarium in the city, featuring everything from rainforests and exotic animals to space travel, technology, and interactive exhibits. It is a place suitable for both adults and children, and you can easily spend many hours there.

Afterwards, we returned to the hotel and spent the afternoon at the rooftop pool. We had a drink and enjoyed ourselves in the heated pool while relaxing.

In the evening, we went out for dinner and had a few drinks afterwards. We met a couple of Swedes who recommended a café we should visit the next day. It turned out to be a very pleasant evening.

On Sunday we packed up and went to the café we had been recommended, Hebbe Lelle’s Café. The café is known for its enormous cinnamon buns, called “mega kanelbullar,” which are almost larger than a full meal in themselves. We of course had to try one, but halfway through we had to give up. The rest we took home in a bag.

On the way home, we also stopped at the border to Sweden to buy some cheap food to take home.

All in all, it was a very pleasant weekend with good food, relaxation, and nice experiences in Gothenburg.
